The Different Types of Disassociation
Dissociative identity disorder is previously referred to as multiple personality disorder. Usually there's the existence of two or more distinct identities, their personality states. Symptoms may cause significant distress or problems in social, occupational, other areas of functioning. I've known people to have up to 67 different personalities to this point in my career. People who experience physical and sexual abuse in childhood are at increased risk for an Dissociative Identity Disorder.
