How to Calculate Sales and Marketing Expenses for Monthly SaaS Businesses

If it's 90 days or lower I'm going to use the current quarter of sales and marketing expenses. If it's 90 to 180 days then I'll use previous quarter. It makes sense spiritually but most other people calculated based on prior quarter. The only way you'd get me to change would be in a pure monthly business with a 15 day 20 day sales cycle that I might do month over month.
