Vikings takes cues from new evidence that we're getting from graves, which have been maybe misgendered in the past. But it's also obviously important in TV shows to have some women heroines who are not just sitting at home looking after the cows while the men get all the fighting action. As we know, they must have done in these huge armies. There must have been women along with them, providing domestic services, being wives, being lovers,. doing the washing, milking the cows, making the cheese. The women must always have been there.
