Anakin is already predisposed to be angry and then to hate because he's lost his mother at such a young age. It's still not clear why Qui-Gon couldn't have come back with some gold or the equivalent and gotten shmied right afterwards. I believe the canon reason that they didn't get to me is that I guess Padme eventually goes back to get shmied free and was already married off to her new husband.
