The US Rent-to-Income Ratio Is Now Near 30%
The rent-to-income ratio, which compares how much a family has to pay in rent compared to their household income. It is now for the first time in the US surpassed this threshold of 30%, meaning that the US on a national scale is now a quote unquote rent burden nation. We have been very close to the 30% threshold for some time, but I have to emphasize, we didn't get to this point a decade or two decades ago.
