Nick, Madeline, and the Concierge

Nick and madeline flew through the air like winged monkeys. The ceiling above their heads flinched, sensing it had been discovered. Madeline drew a mauser pistol from inside her jacket but gave up without firing. Nick gathered his own power around them, enough to turn the detective into a chimp shaped ice sculpture in a matter of seconds if he didn't intervene. He pulled the cap over his head and summoned madeline. Instantly, their positions were rever st the detective flew at reality, defying speeds behind nick. But they were ahead of the threat by considerably more distance than they were even if the lead was only temporary.
