The Supreme Court Resigns Justice John Marshall Harlan
White House announced this evening that Justice Hugo L. Black, the oldest member of the Supreme Court, has retired from the bank. Associate Justice John Marshall Harlan turned in his resignation today just six days after the resignation of Justice Hugo Black. President Richard Nixon was able to appoint two new justices to the bench with Lewis Powell Jr and William Renquist sworn in.
