Minneapolis Punk Scene - The Blitzbar in Downtown Minneapolis

Before Jay's Longhorn, there really wasn't much of a punk scene in Minneapolis. The Blitzbar had long been a jazz club until an escaped mental patient shot and killed the manager in the bathroom in 1975. After the murder, another guy took over and chained this bar's name to the Blitzbar. For a short period of time, people could see punk bands in the downstairs venue at the Blitz. And if they didn't particularly like the band, they could always go upstairs where one can see the finest exotic dancers in the Midwest.
