The Importance of Representation
"My goal is to get more of us in the academy," she says. "I really kind of like how you talked about the importance of representation are presence matters, certainly I've received emails from students being like, you know what, you are my only Filipino prof ever." She adds that while universities are busy trying to recruit and retain black faculty, they don't have a ready-to-use pool for people of color who want to work there. 'We need to be really careful and really cognizant'
