Minok To: Nail art has been a way for me to pay my deals and also to express myself creatively. The nail salon economy in the US is mostly run by mom and pop operations with a predominantly immigrant and refugee labor force. Vietnamese community in particular has been shaping the industry since the mid 1970s when hundreds of thousands of refugees settled in the United States.
