How Do You Measure Your Heart Rate?
As your fitness improves, you'll see lower heart rates for the same power. That only happens to a point though, and that's typically something that tops out during your base conditioning. Working out at percentages of maximum heart rate is far less fruitful than percentages of lactate threshold heart rate. So if you do insist on training with heart rate, or even just complimenting your training with that information, using functional threshold heart rate will be more effective.
