The Noise of Silence

I'd never seen my dad scared. Ever. He was a proper old school blokey bloke. But he said, when you're alone in the house, do you ever hear anything? Like footsteps. So this is all three family members now hearing these noises whilst alone in the home. And pretty soon they are hearing other noises too. I remember coming downstairs and my mum was shouting at the back window. It turned out that she had been experiencing somebody banging on the window. We put in security lights out in the back but no light ever came on.
