We treat cognition as though it's magic, that you should just always be able to do more of it. That's not how it works. Try one day just saying you're not allowed to do it at four. Don't even think about it. I'm taking the stuff away from you or locking it away for myself. It probably has nothing to do with whether you're procrastinating or whatever. You need a break before you run again. Just like any other system when it is used, it is damaged and depleted and needs to be repaired and restored. But somehow we think if you just flip some levers in your mind that somehow magically exist, all of us will have energy out
