The Importance of Literature in Dublin
I wrote the book in kind of strange circumstances I live about 20 kilometers outside of Dublin so you know the study where I work looks out over to a field that usually has cows. I had pictured myself writing this book in the dome of the National Library in the absent center of Dublin and kind of walking the streets yeah but then Covid came along it's like a more modest version of Joyce writing Ulysses, Trieste and Paris right. There were images coming out of the city center of Dublin of this empty city and I think any of us who lived in cities anywhere had those same kinds of really spooky images.
