CHAPTER

Nagel's Inconceivably Argument

The bat has a much richer sensory experience than we do, because it can pick up on a wide variety of objects and surfaces. Since our experiences are so different from a bat, Nagel concludes that we can never know what it's like to be one. The inconceivably argument might be seen as a barrier to our human ability to comprehend the universe at all. Accepting that there are certain things which we will never be able to grasp may prevent us from understanding and expanding our frontiers of knowledge.
