There was nothing like an anti-war official Democratic Party policy. It evolved within the ranks and mostly among younger people because they were pissed off about Vietnam. Nobody, as far as I knew, understood why LBJ and his administration could not back off from Vietnam,. And that sank them and did a lot of harm.
