The Difference Between Projects and Areas
There's a very clear distinction, which is you have projects and you have areas of responsibility. Projects are discrete in time; they have a kick off date and an end date. Areas are really like processes: They're never ending. The way that you manage something that that continues has to be fundamentally different than how you manage projects.
