Labor's Budget Didn't Go Far Enough
Mortgage holders in particular are shouldering the burden of high inflation. The RBA is forced to use its monetary policy levers to bring inflation down. And it's those people that have mortgages or business loans that tend to suffer the most from rising interest rates. One surplus does not a contractionary budget or one budget make. There is actually deficits that a forecast as far as the eye can see after this one year of a surplus, largely because of things like bracket creep caused by inflation.
