Is the Book of Mormon a Pseudopigrophy?
The idea is, in a lot of way, back-dated prophecies. It's almost like pseudopigrophy where you're writing in someone else's name to give the credibility to what you're writing. The people reading it in your time take it as authoritative even though it's clearly being retrofitted back into the text from a much later perspective. There are a lot of examples where there are not only elements about, say, American history that's in the Book of Mormon but there's also elements that are part of Joseph Smith's own life experience at that time.
