The Beauty of Godard's Films
Richard's films were also one of my early confrontations with the idea that cinematic beauty didn't have to mean classical beauty. Godar as a painter was actually really interested in the history of art am and he began to take very seriously the relationship of the cinematic image to, you know, rembrandt, to classical paintings. And then i think the third dimension is, and even though he was a man, as he always said, images and sounds, the image holds priority. The image is a, almost an object of a virtually religious cult for him.
