Is Your Back Touching the Hood?

I treat it like a seated toilet where like the way I walked up to it, I back into it. So your butt, your back is touching the hood. Like when the cool teacher is having a serious talk with you. But I'm seeing an illustration of somebody sitting like straddling it as though you're like sitting. Is that what the little hood is for? I don't know. Nobody has ever told me how to use this properly. Why would a hole in the ground have a hood? Unless it's designed for some- Hold on.
