In 1901, American psychologist William James delivered a series of public lectures in Edinburgh on the varieties of religious experience. In the century, since they've been reprinted 36 times and had a wide and deep influence inspiring figures from psychoanalyst Carl Jung to novelist Aldous Huxley. We'd meet with John Haldane professor at Philosophy at the University of St Andrews; Gwen Griffith Dixon emeritus professor at Divinity at Gresham College.; Jonathan Ray, freelance philosopher.
