The Three Dimensions of a Principal Component Machine
Thurstone measured all of the boxes in his office with a tape measure and wrote down characteristics. He then threw this into a principal component machine, turns the crank, and guess what comes out? Three dimensions. Now we understand that all of these boxes at the end of the day, exist in three dimensions. So why would we need to characterize these boxes with all those seven other dimensions? Exactly.
