Amy levy wrote a poem to violet paget, who was friends withvernon lee. The ending stanza suggests that perhaps levy's feelings were unrequited and she hoped paget would reassure her of some sort reciprocation. Regardless of whether vernon leo and amy levy were romantically connected, their friendship was pivotal to levy because she in turn became acquainted with a new group of creative intellectuals. And perhaps because of this new social set, the mid to late 18 eighties were incredibly prolific for levy.
