Starting With Self Compassion Is So Important
Self compassion may be a mindfulness practice, but starting with self compassion is so important. It's one of or achilles heels. I think it's one of those things that people don't realize how important it is. When i'm working with my clients and i bring up self compassion, they kind of roll their eyes. They're like, oh, no. You don't understand. I actually want to change. If i'm compassionate with myself, i'm just going to keep yelling at my kids. By being kind to themselves, paradoxically, helps them exercise more and eat healthier. And so self compassion is really the first step to change.
