Granny Weatherwex
In Discworld, the wizards are traditionally male and often make one of them for being pompous or scheming. Granny Weatherwex is a person who is good when she wishes she didn't have to be. She's cantankerous and very powerful, but she's sparing with her witchcraft. By the way, Granny is my favorite character in the entire series. Emmet is also a fan.
