The Problem With American Ideology

Karl Marx called alienation, or the separation of work and its product. In modern society, this can be seen as a problem with social media and leisure time. We're creating something outside of ourselves that reflects back on who we are - ideally it gives us some sort of satisfaction. This type of work is what he would call alienated.
