Season 2 of True Detective

I like Season 2 of True Detective more than most people. I would still skip it though. Serious to is undoubtedly a little bit messy in attempts to explore too many plot lines at once, but there are also some absolutely incredible performances from Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn. Particularly, I find Farrell's morally ambiguous character deliberately trying to cling on to his collapsing family life to be quite moving. In an age where a lot of film and TV feels designed by committee for Mass Appeal, there's something to be said for a single vision from one creator,. even if it is a bit uneven.
