Do We Have the Right of Abrogation Over Law and Scripture?
When you start to hold the past to account on the basis of what is a the moment that you happen to live in, e, this is where you into problems. A proper understanding of tradition threads the needle between those two and says that we take the wisdom of those who came before us but at the same time understand they were operating within a context. We allow ourselves to disagree with that particular scholar's perspective on something, whilst not necessarily stating that they were wrong, because we are right. It comes with wisdom, but we need to learn it.
