The story received a whole bunch of coverage and it was shared nearly 17,000 times on Facebook. The problem, the central scandalous claims of Wallert's article were simply untrue. CNN later updated the article without explaining the mistake that they had made. People are just completely delusional about what the truth is because they never get the secondary story where the paper actually comes out and says, we were wrong.
