Gene Seymour: It's startling what differences there are between generations over the last century, but you don't see any of it. He says our brains evolved to notice things that could take us out of the gene pool threats. But we tend to overcorrect and see danger where there isn't as opposed to the other kind of error - failing to recognize the threat. Seymour: One trend I find absolutely fascinating is the way that we just pulled so many people out of poverty over the last 25 years.
