In many of us, there is an appeal to certainty and stability that so when someone offers certainty and stability, it pricks something deep within us that we have a craving for it. And you can see that all over our culture, all over, where people out of desperation or curiosity will turn to gurus who are offering much the same thing. This is something this appeal of fundamentalism and this appeal of certainty is very strong. It makes you vulnerable to cons and extreme ends. It makesYou vulnerable to cults. It makes You vulnerable to bad ideas. That's just a part of the human condition. The gothardism rejects that idea. But it's not the only movement
