Officials originally doubted his reliability, mostly due to existing commercial relationships between businesses owned by the wallenburg family and the german government. But those concerns were eventually overcome, and they made some sort of lack a bit of a deal. Wallenberg reached the swedish legation in budapest in ju 19. Forty-four years later he's still there.
