The History of the American Historical Novel

A historical novel is a novel that is set in a time remote from the author's own. The tradition goes all the way back to walter scott, and i think he sees working in that context. In blemberin is clearly a historical noe. But in the sense that he's pitting the forces of progress and reaction against one another, i would sort of question that. Because i would say mc carthy is really scrutinizing even the possibility of a genuine progress a ensil.
