The Vinegativa - Fruitfulness
When I talk about Christian productivity, I really am describing what Jesus called fruitfulness or bearing fruit. We want to be productive in making more of those things, those works that please God. And so when Jesus talks about using the analogy of a vine that produces fruit, he actually employs what we might call via negativa. If you've ever grown a plant before and you've pruned it, especially a fruit bearing plant, you know that you're basically cutting stuff off of it that is not going to tend towards further fruit production. That's exactly what we're doing with the vinegativa.We're trying to remove from our lives, those things that do not make us fruitful
