i think it's so interesting that mary robinet pointed out that the origins of cha dontel are rooted in a silent film. When we are looking at a visual image, we are absorbing enormous amounts of information that aren't on the page. The thing to remember is that when you're writing a book, th the reader will only see what you put a lazer focus on.
