The Paradox of Elite Overproduction in China
I wonder whether these sort of youth unemployment figures that we keep reading about in China are maybe a result of elite overproduction. I often wonder whether maybe they're graduating too many people. But certainly the historical expectation is that a spot in an elite university or in any university would be a pathway to a successful professional career. That can no longer be guaranteed given the numbers that we just discussed and given the slowdown of the Chinese economy.
