How Do Women Ride on Trains?
Some students, they always saw the subway and the social order as being in a perpetual state of crisis. It was always something that could break down at any moment. Two girls I just mentioned are great examples. They would essentially racialize the norm violation that was there. The ones who saw it as more a precarious role would be able to enjoy themselves. These identities were never fixed at all, they were always changing.
