I love talking to psychopaths and I think part of that is the lack of empathy. Sometimes there's a bit of a status game going on, he says. We try to get status through dominant success or virtue so virtue is one of the main three ways we try to get success which is showing how empathetic that we are to one another. You don't have to actually be more empathetic or righteous you just have to be able to convince other people that you are to gain status in a tribe.
