Graphite or Grafana? What's the Difference?

i've used graphite to get really rich metrix monitoring on zetipes. I've just never used it for that much, actually checking things like, is the pool in a good state? i don't know what that would look like in graphite or grafana exactly. For me, those platforms fall into basically the category that i would use net data for. But i have not found an, i am only human, i may be missing something, but i have not find anything in those services that really matches well my desire for monitoring.
