The Conflict of Interests in Drug Pricing
Meg Urry: Drug pricing in the United States is complicated, but one seemingly simple aspect is that employers big and small pay consulting firms to deal with pharmacy benefits managers. She says some of the same consulting firms are getting paid even more money by the PBMs they're supposed to scrutinize than by companies they are. Urry: It's probably why employers are stuck with prescription drug deals that may not be the best or cost them a lot of money.
