Repre's records saw the song potential, but hated its chorus and almost made wence and stump changeo our label told us the chorus was too wordy and the guitars were too heavy. Whence later recalled in spin magazine, the label was wrong on just about every count. The crunching guitars plus the inscrutable wordiness, that was what made it work. That's what made sugar, we're going down emo pop's signature hit.
