How to Fork a Project?

A lot of people think you can just fork a project, but that's not how it works. I've seen someone try to fork zig cause they didn't like that we reject hard taps,. This fork lasted one hour because they gave up. A project is people, and a business is people. So you don't want to make it impossible to add changes. i deally want to making it difficult.
