The New Domestic Terrorism Statute Is Unnecessary

Hennigays: A new domestic terrorism statute is not only unnecessary, but some administrations could pivot and use it very differently than intended. In North Carolina earlier this year, after the biggest ever attack on the electrical grid in the US, the senator from More County sponsored a bill called Protect Critical Infrastructure. Strictor criminal penalties, reclassifying misdemeanors to felonies and more. Nothing to actually improve security at substations though. Just plain old punishment as deterrence.
