The theory implies that the death of consciousness simply does not exist. It only exists as a thought because people identify themselves with their bodies. But if the body generates consciousness, then consciousness dies when the body dies. And so it taps into enough of these old spiritual and I think sometimes wise and definitely provocative, fascinating spiritual traditions.

David and Tamler dive into the first two parts of Nietzsche’s Beyond Good and Evil which contain some of Nietzsche’s best drive-bys on philosophers like Plato, Descartes, the Stoics, Kant, and Hegel along with beliefs in free will, hard determinism, Christianity, morality, conceptual analysis, objectivity, and the value of truth. We argue about Nietzsche’s metaphilosophy and the implications of thinking that all philosophy amounts to a personal confession by the author. Plus – have David’s prayers been answered?
