Why Would Our Lord Do This to Saul and Not to Others?

This is a follow up to our discussion of St. Paul and his conversion. We observed that the conversion of Paul that we find in Acts 9 in Acts 22 and again in Acts 24. The question I want to pose is why would our Lord do this? And having done it, he seems to deploy Paul in a weird way. Like not what I would have had Paul doing.
