This chapter discusses a study on the adherence and safety outcomes of a five-day antibiotic course for the treatment of pneumonia in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). The study found that the majority of pneumonia episodes were treated with a five-day course of antibiotics. The chapter explores the mortality rate, complications, and appropriate duration of antibiotic therapy for babies with pneumonia.
