The Benefits of Nasal Breathing During Physical Exercise

George Dalam is a sport scientist at Colorado State University. He works with top level triathletes in the United States. In 2018 he got 10 recreational athletes to breathe exclusively through their nose for six months during all physical exercise. They were able to achieve 100% of their work rate intensity breathing through their nose, as versus breathing through their mouth. But they had 22% less ventilation and 22% less breathlessness. It's not your breathing during exercise that's the problem - it's your breathing during sleep.
