The Legend of Toribio Roma
In the 1980s, reports began to surface of a young man in a red pickup truck who would arrive to help unauthorized immigrants stranded in the deserts. When you returned to Mexico, he said, just go to Santa Ana de Guadalupe, a tiny village in Jalisco, and ask for Toribio Roma. Common elements are that he appears to be a normal person, dressed like either a cowboy or priest. There are specific identifiable people who claim to be eyewitnesses who say they personally met this man in the desert.
