The status quo, I think, has been reinforced more than anything. Europe is completely dependent on the U.S., more so than it's ever been. Ukraine exists in a geopolitical limbo since 2008 and George Bush offering a kind of half guarantee or wanting to guarantee Ukraine's all trying to give Ukraine membership of NATO but being rejected by the French. If we think that nothing has changed there is a very clear responsibility that falls on the western states for failing to deter Russia from its invasion of Ukraine. That raises some quite difficult questions though, doesn't it?
